Legend has it that Aleramo, recruited into Emperor Otto I's army, met and fell in love with Adelasia, the emperor's daughter.
Fearing a refusal to marry, the two fled to Aleramo's homeland, but he could not live without fighting to defend the peace.
When the emperor learnt of his valour in battle, he forgave the two lovers and granted Aleramo as much land as he had been able to cover while riding non-stop.
The territory he rode through was Monferrato, a name derived from mun (brick) and frà (to shoe), i.e. from the bricks he used to shoe the horses he rode on this route.
Enlivened by this legend, they wanted to propose a motoring event to introduce participants to the beauty of this territory, making them take part in a kind of ride on board their vintage cars, engaging them in the difficult speciality of medium races.
To secure victory, the competitors will have to be precise in respecting the imposed speeds, but with added navigational skills to follow a route revealed only a few hours before the start.
In this context, they will be timed using satellite devices that are able to record the time set in the secret surveys with extreme precision.
To get to know the territory better, two lunch breaks will be included in the hospitality package to sample the flavours and aromas of the area.
