Alberto and Giuseppe Scapolo, driving a Fiat 508C in the RC2 category for Scuderia Nettuno Bologna, claimed overall victory at the 33rd Coppa Città della Pace, the third round of the Italian Historic Regularity Championship (CIREAS) held this weekend in Trentino and organized by Adige Sport with the support of Automobile Club Trento.
For the Padua-based brothers it marks their first win of the 2026 Italian championship season, achieved at the end of a demanding and competitive event in which consistency and concentration proved decisive. The winners finished with 204.13 penalty points.
“We thought we had not performed particularly well,” said Alberto Scapolo. “It was a complicated race to manage and very competitive. Maintaining concentration was not easy. At midday I didn’t think we could achieve such a result, but we improved our pace during the second half of the event and eventually the victory arrived, somewhat unexpectedly.”
Second place went to Lorenzo and Mario Turelli, father and son from Brescia competing for Brescia Corse with their Lancia Aprilia (RC2). They completed the rally just 16.44 penalty points behind the winners.
“It was a slightly different race compared to previous years,” said Lorenzo Turelli. “The start location, the setting and the route were all new, and the tests were difficult to interpret. We started well and then thought we had compromised our performance, but in the end we managed a good recovery. The weather was beautiful and the atmosphere among friends made it a great weekend.”
Completing the podium were Francesco Gulotta and Paolino Messina, winners of the RC3 category in their Fiat 600 entered by Franciacorta Motori, which also secured victory in the team classification.
“It was a very enjoyable and well-paced rally,” said Gulotta. “The pressostat controls were well distributed along the route. We maintained a strong pace despite a few minor mistakes. Consistency is rewarding us at the start of the season, both in the raw penalty standings and in the coefficient-based classification. The championship is still long.”
Just outside the podium were Andrea and Roberto Vesco in a Fiat 508C, followed by Vincenzo Bertoli and Doriano Vavassori in a Fiat 508 Balilla, last year’s winners of the event.
Sixth overall finished Luca and Matteo Patron, ahead of Alberto Aliverti and Stefano Cadei, seventh overall and winners of the RC4 category in their Autobianchi A112.
The top ten was completed by Salvatore Cusumano and Alberto Carrotta (Fiat Simca 8 Coupé) and Alessandro Gamberini with Andrea Camosci in another Simca 8.
Great interest also surrounded the Power Stage Classic held in Piazza Fiera in Trento, where Roberto Miatto and Maurizio Farsura (Fiat 508C) claimed victory with just three penalty points, ahead of Mario Passanante and Alessandro Molgora and Luca and Matteo Patron.
The event was widely praised by local authorities and organizers, although Adige Sport president Luca Manera expressed regret over the absence of the winning crew at the prize-giving ceremony.
“We wanted to celebrate the winners by presenting them with a painting created by artist Luisa Bifulco, whose work has long been associated with the event,” Manera explained. “In my opinion, the Federation should consider measures to discourage competitors from skipping the awards ceremony. It is a matter of respect for organizers, volunteers, authorities and sponsors.”
